Today the EEE PC 900 was available for sale in an electric market in Shanghai.
They offered both versions, 20 Gb with Linux or 12 Gb with Windows. The price for both versions were 3999 Yuan (about USD 570). They did not seem to be willing to do anything on that price and that is also the same experience I have from when the 701 was released back in November.
On this (crappy) photo, you can see both the 701 and the 900.
I didn’t have time to stay long but I they quickly let me know that they offered a copy of English XP together with the Lunux version for free
Tomorrow I will go back again. Any request for what I should check?

Has the 901 still got a fan? I am hoping that with Atom it might be cool enough to be fan and fully noiseless.
Thanks!
This is the eee PC 900, not the 901 (the 901 will be launched at Computex on June 3, and will have the Atom).
I’m in Shanghai too though. Which shop did you go to? The most important question is, what’s the battery capacity?
It seems China will be getting the 4400 mAh battery, not the 5800 mAh they are releasing in HK and US.
Thanks for pointing out and sorry for the mistake, its of course the 900.
It came with 4400 mAh battery, my friend just baught one from the electronic market in Xujiahui.
So it’s official! the China release comes with the 4400 mAh… That sucks!
Guess I’ll wait till June 3 to know more about the 901. If it will really sell for about US$650, I might just go ahead and get an imported 900 from HK with the 5800 battery.
Btw, I have a P1i too, so I’ll check out your UIQ guide sometime
Well, the 901 is out now that it’s June and I’m wondering if we’ll see it here in Korea soon. I’m recently stationed here and still trying to get a handle on the shopping situation but I can’t even find the eee PC 900. I’ve taken to wandering the electronics market down at Yongsan station area with a picture of it. Any better suggestions?
The sales people in Shanghai said the 901 will come on the 8th of July. Couldn’t wait, baught the 900.
